Macs Duo invited to Team Canada U17 Camp

Bowers left, Welsh Right invited to U17 Team Canada Camp
Once again a pair of Halifax Macs Midgets have been invited to Hockey Canadas U17 Team Canada Evaluation camp.
Forward Shane Bowers and goaltender Matt Welsh have been selected to attend the tryout camp July 29th to August 4th in Calgary
12 goaltenders, 36 defenceman and 63 forwards – will participate in practices and a nine-game mini-tournament on one of six teams: Black, Blue, Gold, Green, Red and White.
From the development camp, 66 players will be selected to represent Canada on one of three national teams – Black, Red and White – at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, which is scheduled for Oct. 30 - Nov. 7 in a yet-to-be-determined host city.
All 111 players have been drafted or listed by CHL teams, including 45 from the Ontario Hockey League, 34 from the Western Hockey League and 32 from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Bowers was a recent 1st round selection of the QMJHL Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, while Welsh was a 2nd round pick of the Charlottetown Islanders.
Last year, Goaltender Reilly Pickard (Acadie Bathurst QMJHL) and Forward Barrett Dachyshyn (Halifax Mooseheads draft pick) were invited to the camp with Pickard cracking one of the three National teams.

Alumni Update: Former Halifax Major Midget goalie, Mason McDonald has been invited to the U20 selection camp for the World Jr Championships. Mason one of three goalies invited in Canada is a Calgary Flames draft pick (2nd round) Congrats Mason!
