2009-10-03

The Taylar Made Security Titans defeated the Cole Harbour Major Midgets on Saturday night, by a score of 6-1.

The Taylar Made Security Titans are a point out of first place after defeating league leading Cole Harbour Major Midgets 6-1 on Saturday at the Cole Harbour Place.

The Titans played strong defensive hockey, and were able to capitalize on their offensive chances. Playing with a short bench due to numerous untimely injuries, the Titans never gave up on their defensive responsibilities, and didn’t let Cole Harbour get any sustained offensive flow. Backed up by a solid effort in nets by rookie net minder Jake Brennan, the Titans held each other accountable in the defensive zone, and worked hard to take away chances and shots on net.

Spencer Cameron opened the scoring at 7:57 mark of the first period, setting the tone for the Titans. Adam Brown scored two power play goals in the second period, both coming off blasts from the point. Adam Stevens also scored on a goalmouth scramble, and the Titans had a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Brandon Boutilier and Spencer Cameron both scored third period goals, Cameron's being his second goal of the night. Andrew Graham contributed 4 assists to the team effort. The Titans fired 30 shots in total at Cole Harbour goaltender Spencer Scott.

Brennan stopped 22 of 24 shots in the victory for the Titans.

The Taylar Made Security Titans head back to the Forum on Sunday, when they take on the visiting Pictou County Weeks at 12:30PM.
