Taylar Made Security Titans break league record after winning thier 16th game in a row.

2009-11-28

The Taylar Made Security Titans have broken a 25-year old league record by winning thier 16th game in a row, a 4-2 victory over the Cape Breton Tradesmen on Saturday night.

The Titans have etched their names into the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League record books.

After dropping their season opener on September 19th, the Taylar Made Security Titans have reeled off 16 straight victories, breaking a league record that was set in 1984. Many teams have come close to breaking the record, but none have been successful.

The Titans have played smart, simple and strong hockey to set this record, and have overcome numerous injuries and illness, playing some games with as little as eleven skaters.

The Titans walked into Centre 200 on Saturday evening with a common goal in mind, and walked out as a team with a league record under thier belt.

The Titans went up 2-0 after the first period on goals from Kyle Campbell and Tyler Mathieu. Alex Zafiris scored in the second frame, along with a short handed marker from Brandon Boutilier to put the Titans up 4-2. The Titans played a strong third period to preserve the record-setting win.

Richard Tingley made 21 saves for his league-leading 9th win of the season.

The Titans are back on the ice on Sunday morning at 11:00AM at Centre 200 when they take on the Tradesmen again.
