Macs Fall Short Against Wolfpack, Lose 2nd in a row

2013-10-31

The NSEMMHL's top two teams met Wednesday night and while first place wasn't on the line the outcome would determine how close these two teams would be in points after the game.

The Macs opened the scoring in the first period when Johnny Jones deflected a blast from the point from Morgan Nauss. Cole Harbour answered back when Connor Welsh lobbed a shot from the blue line that got past Reilly Pickard.

Aside from some penalties the second was rather quiet until Cooper Boyd gave the Wolfpack at 2-1 edge near the midway point of the period.

In the third Liam Rappoldt wrapped the puck around the net giving Cole Harbour an insurance goal and a 3-1 lead. With an empty net the Macs pressed late to get back into the game but a late penalty drawn on Jordan Yochoff sealed the deal for Cole Harbour and handed the Macs their 2nd loss of the season.

The Macs have little time to dwell on this game as the team loads the bus this weekend for a road trip against two of the NB/PEIMMHL's top teams. On Saturday the Macs travel to Miramichi to battle the Rivermen and Sunday they will be in Moncton the play the Flyers.
