The Halifax McDonalds will be participating in the 33rd Annual Monctonian AAA Challenge from November 14-17th in Moncton New Brunswick. The Monctonian is the most heavily scouted tournament in Eastern Canada. Each year the tournament has over 100 scouts in attendance, representing the NHL, Canadian Major Junior Hockey Leagues, as well as U.S. and Canadian Universities. Halifax has competed in this tournament for several years and captured the trophy back in 2011.
The first game of the tournament for the 15-3 Macs will be on Oct 14th at 2pm against the Ottawa Jr 67’s from the OEMHL. Ottawa currently sits in 1st place of their division with a 7-4-1 record.* On Friday the Macs will play the Kensington Wild from the NB/PEIMMHL also at 2pm. The Wild sit 5th in their league with a 4-9 record* but games are won and loss on the ice and not on paper. Saturday the Macs will close out the round robin play at 9am against Central, NFLD of the Newfoundland & Labrador Major Midget Hockey League. Central is also a first place contender of their league with a 7-1 record.* The outcome of the round robin play will determine if the Macs continue on with games on Saturday or Sunday.
