McDonalds Split Weekend Games
2013-12-01The Halifax McDonald's played two games this weekend with completely different outcomes.
On Saturday they travelled across the bridge to battle the New Bridge Academy Gladiators for Movember night. The Gladiators got on the board near the mid point of the first and never looked back. Reilly Pickard made 34 saves in the Macs 4-0 loss to Dartmouth.
On Sunday the McDonalds hosted the South Shore Mustangs at the Civic Centre.
The first period started out just as slow for the Macs with no scoring but Jordan Yochoff finally got them on the board in the second with his 12th of the season. Two minutes later Jordan Bezanson got his 1st of the season and gave the Macs a 2-0 lead. But Christian Tufts answered back with a pair to tie the game for South Shore. With less than a minute in the period Johnny Jones finds the back of the net to give the Macs their lead back.
The Macs turned up the intensity in the third as it was very obvious they were following through on their checks. South Shore added some pressure late and with an empty net was looking to tie the game. It wasn't to be as Daniel Little iced the game with a goal that fooled most fans in the rink as it barely crossed the line. Reilly Pickard rebounded with 29 saves for the win.
The McDonalds play again this Wednesday when they host the 1st place Cole Harbour Pro Hockey Life Wolfpack. Game time in the Halifax Forum is 7pm and will also be broadcasted on Eastlink TV
