Macs end 2013 with 4 Points, Regain 1st Place

2013-12-29

The Halifax McDonalds end 2013 in the win column.

On Saturday night the Macs welcomed the Cape Breton Tradesmen to the Fourm for the first time this season. The team wasted no time as Dillon Boucher scored his 1st of 3 goals only 6 seconds into the contest. The Macs would go on to connect for 8 more goals in the convincing 9-1 victory over Cape Breton. Scoring for Halifax was Boucher (3), Grant, Poirier, Hickey, Nauss, Marsh, and Bezanson. Reilly Pickard made 26 saves for his 10th win of the season.

The following night the Macs played a rare Sunday night game against Charlie's Pizza South Shore Mustangs. The contest did not start off as quickly as the previous night as the first period went scoreless and without any penalties. Patrick Stewart hammered one from the blue line at 7:35 of the 2nd to end the tie and the Macs did not look back. Ethan Marsh scored in the third along with Dillon Boucher who picked up his 14th of the season. Justin Ritcey made 25 saves for the win and his 1st shutout of the season.

The wins this weekend put the team back on top of the NSEMMHL however they have 3 more games played. The true test will be this Wednesday night when the Macs will host the Cole Harbour Pro Hockey Life Wolfpack for a battle of the league's top spot. Game time is at 6:30pm.

Wednesday night's game is Minor Hockey Appreciation night. ANY Minor Hockey player from HRM is welcome to enjor the game for FREE (including 1 parent) if they wear their team jersey or jacket.
