Macs Firing on all Cylinders; End Wolfpack Streak

2014-01-02

Macs Celebrating a Goal

The Halifax McDonalds and Cole Harbour Pro Hockey Life Wolfpack met on New Year’s Day and there was no doubt the Macs didn’t forget the outcome of their last encounter. These two teams previously met on December 4th where Cole Harbour broke the record for most consecutive regular season wins; a record that was previously held by Halifax. The Wolfpack were looking to extend their streak to 19 games but on this night it was not to be. This was also the first time in 28 games this season the Halifax McDonalds were free from injury and operating with a full roster.

Peter Drohan opened the scoring at 12:48 of the 1st and the McDonalds did not look back. The Macs would go on to score 7 more times in a convincing 8-2 win over the Wolfpack. Scoring for Halifax was Drohan, Dachyshyn, Poirier, Bezanson, Ormon, Piercey, Doiron and Boucher. Cooper Boyd and Liam Rappoldt answered back for Cole Harbour.  Reilly Pickard made 28 saves for the win and Rowan O’Brien with 33 saves in the losing effort.

The Macs will now host the Cape Breton Tradesmen this Saturday night. Game time in the Civic Centre is at 6:30pm.
