Ormon Named Team Captain for the 2014-15 Season

The Halifax McDonalds Major Midget Hockey Club is pleased to announce Nick Ormon as team Captain for the upcoming 2014/15 Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League Season.
2013/14 was the rookie season for Ormon after graduating from the Bubba Rays Gulls. Head Coach Tim Boyce said picking Ormon was a ”no brainer after getting to know his character this past season”. Nick is a “fine young man that is well liked by teammates and communicates extremely well with the coaching staff. He embodies everything we want in our program’s players which is hard work on and off the ice, a positive attitude and team first mentality.”
Ormon is up for the challenge saying “It feels really good, it’s such an honour to be named Captain of a team with so much history”
Boyce has high hopes for Ormon this coming season. “Nick will also be one of the top defenseman in the NSEMMHL next year and will be relied upon by our club in all key situations as he was this year as a rookie.”
When asked what type Captain he will be, Nick said he will “lead by example, talk when something needs to be said and be positive as much as I can.” Being Captain will allow Nick to grow not only as a hockey player but as a person and a leader. “Instead of just focusing on my hockey skills I also want to focus on my leadership skills as well”.
Nick Ormon lead the McDonalds in plus/minus this past season and also represented Team Nova Scotia at the Under 16 Tournament.
The Macs Training Camp will open in the middle of August with a few exhibition games scheduled for late in the month. The season is tentatively scheduled to open on September 10th.
